THE
HEAVILIN HERALD
NOVEMBER, 2009
Before we drove to Indianapolis, we
drove around Shipshewana on a Sunday
to see if we could catch some
pictures of the Amish as they
gathered for Sunday services in one
of the homes. We were successful. We
love driving through the Amish area.
Marilyn has also become a fan of
Beverly Lewis who has written many
fiction books about the Amish.
Between Beverly Lewis and Karen
Kingsbury books, Marilyn has become
a loyal customer for Amazon.
When we drove to Indianapolis, we
visited family and friends. We drove
to Bloomington to visit Jack and
Carol Peterman. Jack works at Spring
Mill State Park as an historic
interpreter.
Glen’s brother George is a volunteer
at the Children’s Museum of
Indianapolis. The museum is the
largest in the world. George gave us
an ‘insider’s’ tour which we really
enjoyed. Marilyn’s nephew, J.D.
joined us for the tour.
Marilyn made it through her
colonoscopy just fine. Most of her
medical problems seem to be
resolved. Her energy hasn’t totally
returned yet, but we can definitely
see progress.
We arrived in Peculiar, MO, about 30
miles from Matt, on October 22. The
next day we drove to Branson for the
weekend. On Friday evening we went
to the SIX concert. SIX is a group
of six brothers who sing everything
acapella. They make all sounds for
the background and accompaniment. It
was a wonderful concert. We also
attended the Dixie Stampede, the
Gospel Jubilee and a concert of Jeff
and Sheri Easter. Jeff and Sheri
appear on the Gaither videos
frequently. We attended the church
where Gary McSpadden is the pastor.
Gary McSpadden interviewed Marilyn
when she was a guest on PTL years
ago. We celebrated our 51st wedding
anniversary in Branson. After a very
busy day of attending a church
service and two concerts, on our way
home we stopped at an ice cream
place where a very, very young
‘Elvis’ made an appearance.
We will be going out to dinner with
Matt and Deb for Marilyn’s birthday
on Wednesday. Marilyn will be
speaking for two Compassionate
Friends chapters in November.
Please pray for our health and
safety.
